PHOTOGRAPHY

My father gifted his weathered Nikon FM2 when I left home in 1987 to finish my BA in History at University of Colorado. I was a wide-eyed, warm-hearted country girl from Indiana. I had no idea that my passionate dabbling in photography in Boulder would open up the world and not any international organization employment after receiving my Masters in History-Int'l Relations in Geneva, Switzerland in 1992. After six months of jaw-dropping-boot-stomping thesis research in Sri Lanka on International Humanitarian Action in a war zone, I was left with a bitter taste from bureaucratic humanitarian bickering over limited funds and wasteful policies. Instead my decisiveness and honesty made me fall in love with documenting history as it unfolded. I wanted to humanize policy making. Freelance photojournalism was completely in synch with who I was & am; fiercely courageous, insatiably curious and ardently compassionate which reflects my style as a visual artist; direct, whimsical and genuine.

My 17 year photojournalism resume (1993-2010) spans the globe with notable publications and to this day, my eye naturally gravitates towards creating fine art images of water, air and earth that dance with light while my gypsy spirit engages with every walk of life to create unique environmental portraits.
